Server Invites
What it is for
Section titled “What it is for”Server Invites prevents members from advertising or redirecting people to other Discord servers. Typical uses include stopping unsolicited promotion, scam-server invitations, or raiders trying to move members elsewhere.
Open Auto-Mod → Archivian Auto-Mod → Server Invites in your server’s dashboard.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Archivian checks new and edited messages for valid Discord server invites, including invite links reached through supported redirects. An invite to the server in which the message was sent is always allowed. Other invites trigger the configured actions unless they match an exception.
Messages from users Archivian recognizes as server staff are not checked.
Exceptions
Section titled “Exceptions”Ignored Channels and Categories
Section titled “Ignored Channels and Categories”Allows invites in selected locations. This is useful for a dedicated partnerships or self-promotion channel. Prefer a narrow channel exception over exempting an entire large category.
Ignored Roles
Section titled “Ignored Roles”Allows members with any selected role to post invites. Use this for trusted partnership staff or event organizers. Remember that every member with the role receives the exception.
Allowed Servers
Section titled “Allowed Servers”Allows every invite leading to a selected server. This is the recommended choice for a sister server, partner server, or official community because it keeps working when that server creates new invite codes.
Allowed Invite Codes
Section titled “Allowed Invite Codes”Allows only the listed invite codes. Use this when one temporary or purpose-specific invite should be allowed but other invites to the same server should remain blocked. Codes are case-sensitive; pasting the full Discord invite link into the dashboard extracts the code.
Allowed Server Features
Section titled “Allowed Server Features”Allows invites when the destination server has a selected Discord feature. For example, the default configuration allows discoverable and partnered servers. Remove those exceptions if your policy prohibits all outside-server invites, including large public communities.
An invite is allowed when any applicable exception matches; it does not need to match all of them.
Actions
Section titled “Actions”- Action Reason is used in alerts, audit logs, and cases. For example:
Posted an unapproved server invite. - Delete Message removes the message containing the invite.
- Add Roles assigns selected roles, such as a restricted-access role.
- Remove Roles removes selected roles.
- Create a Case records a note or warning, or applies a timeout, kick, or ban. Timeout and ban actions include duration controls; bans can also purge recent messages.
- Send a Message can send up to four configurable messages to the same channel, the member’s DMs, another channel, or—as long as the original is not deleted—as a reply. Placeholders can include the member, message link, invite count, and destination-server details.
A balanced starting setup is to delete the message, explain the server’s invite policy by DM, and create a warning only for repeated violations.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”If an expected invite is blocked, prefer adding its destination under Allowed Servers rather than repeatedly adding individual codes. If an invite is not detected, confirm that it still resolves to a valid Discord server invite.
