Server Role Management

Server Role Management is the central place to tell Archivian what each Discord role means in your server. It lets Archivian identify staff consistently across its features, while keeping your existing Discord roles under your control.

Open Management → Server Roles in your server’s dashboard to configure it. You need Guild Settings Read permission to view the assignments and Guild Settings Manage permission to change them.

For each named role, choose an existing Discord role from the selector. An individual Discord role can only be assigned to one named role.

If you do not already have a suitable role, select Generate preset. Archivian creates the missing role with a coordinated name, color, permissions, and place in the suggested hierarchy, then assigns it to that named role. Generate Missing does this for every unassigned named role at once. Existing assignments are not replaced.

Assigning a role here does not give it to members. It classifies an existing role for Archivian; role generation is the only action on this page that creates Discord roles.

The following positions always count as server staff when assigned:

  • Co-Owner
  • Administrator
  • Moderator
  • Trial Moderator

The generated presets are ordered from the highest trusted position down to entry-level moderation. You can use any suitable existing Discord roles instead of the presets.

Community Manager, Developer, and Employee can be assigned even if they are not part of your moderation team. Use Counts as server staff for each one to decide whether Archivian should treat that position as staff.

Use Shared Staff Role for a common role that every staff member receives in addition to a position-specific role. Add any other staff-only roles under Additional staff roles when they do not fit one of the named positions.

The Quarantined role is used by Anti-Nuke when it quarantines a member. It is never counted as staff and must have no server-wide Discord permissions. Keep it below Archivian’s highest Discord role, then use channel permission overrides to grant quarantined members access only to the channels you intend.

For the channel setup, see Quarantine / Jail Setup.

Use the counters at the top of the page to review how many named roles are assigned, how many roles count as staff, and whether any saved roles have been deleted in Discord. Clear or replace missing roles before relying on the mapping.

Select Save after making changes. Archivian blocks saving if a Discord role has been assigned to more than one named role, or if the Quarantined role has server-wide permissions.
